Compassion for the Infirm
Salvation Army personnel and volunteers brought hope and cheer to 35,527 Chicago-area shut-ins and patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

Corps Community Centers
With a total attendance of 203,367, Salvation Army Corps Community Centers throughout the Chicago area provided worship, fellowship, education and recreational activities. In addition, there was a total attendance of 13,088 at our leadership training and character development programs for youth.

3,412 men and women at the Salvation Army Correctional Services Center were helped to re-enter life's mainstream as productive, self-respecting citizens.

Early Childhood Development
Salvation Army child care programs for low-income families provided 31,472 care-days at nine Chicago Head Start sites. Medical and dental screening were provided for more than 500 children. Daily meals gave the children one-third of their daily nutritional needs.

Emergency Disaster Services
This facility will be housing the EDS Offices, supplies, equipment and the "Big Truck" from our Territorial Headquarters. Besides the day-to-day operations of the EDS team, they will be able to offer more EDS training and CISM training on an ongoing basis, and the facility can serve as a Command Center during times of disasters, etc.

Family & Community Service
The Salvation Army Family Services Division provided individual, marital and group counseling for 8,683 cases representing 20,682 persons. The Homemakers provided more than 26,000 hours of service to give practical aid to shut-ins, the disabled, troubled families and others in need.

Golden Diners Service
Golden Diner Centers serve nutritious home-style meals that are served weekdays to individuals age 60 and over and their spouses, regardless of age. Dining centers give older adults an opportunity to meet new people, enjoy conversation, play games and just have fun. Everyone can be as active or reserved as they want to be.

Homeless Services
Seven days a week, 365 days a year, The Salvation Army’s Mobile Feeding Program makes sure the city’s homeless people have a hot meal to eat. In the past year, that added up to 234,380 meals served. Beyond providing sustenance, the program also provides crisis intervention and linkages to other social service agencies.

Keep It Fit Chicago
Keep It Fit Chicago is a comprehensive, team-oriented, six-month program designed to help Chicago residents create healthier lifestyles and fight obesity. There are 50 participating families that have a team of experts from Rush University Medical Center that will tailor a program to fit each family's specific health needs as they strive to meet their goals.

Leadership Training and Character Development for the Young
8,257 young people participated weekly in Junior Soldiers and Corps Cadets (leadership training). 6,392 pre-teen, sunbeam girls and 3,053 girl guards participated in scouting-like troop activities. Scouting and Adventure Corps provided similar character development for more than 6,412 boys.

Music
2,671 sessions of Salvation Army music activities, including brass bands, string and choral groups for adults and young people resulted in a total attendance of 28,360.

Nutrition
Feeding programs provided 1,863,992 nutritious meals to hungry people of all ages across metropolitan Chicago.

Older Adults
1,214 Salvation Army program sessions for older adults provided fellowship, recreation, education and spiritual growth with a total attendance of 31,374.

PROMISE
The Salvation Army’s PROMISE initiative (Partnership to Rescue our Minors from Sexual Exploitation) was launched in Chicago to combat sex trafficking of children. The model, developed by The Salvation Army, includes the formation of a task force which engages in initiatives that address the PROMISE provisions of awareness, prevention, intervention and service delivery.

Rehabilitation Services
Our Harbor Light Center and two Adult Rehabilitation Centers assisted 4,068 people with programs designed to help facilitate long-term recovery from substance abuse and successful re-entry into the community.

Service Extension
Reaching out to Chicago suburbs. The Salvation Army's 195 Service Units (volunteer committees) provided emergency assistance to 368,792 men, women, and children.

Shelter
The Evangeline Booth Lodge provided 1,992 men, women and children lodging, food, clothing and other aid. Combining all shelter programs, each night over 1,133 people are housed under a Chicagoland Salvation Army roof.
