Basketball: Beyond the Ball

Purpose:

To provide young men with recreation, fitness, and fellowship opportunities via participation in a competitive team basketball program. To equip young men spiritually to handle themselves in spiritual warfare through instruction in the Word of God and prayer. To prepare young men to be godly examples in their communities. To provide mentorship for each participant as well as accountability for each participant.

 

Who: Ages 14 and older

What: A weekly Christ focused basketball program that focuses on mentorship and discipleship.

Where: The Salvation Army Joliet Corps Community and Worship Center. (300 Third Ave. Joliet Illinois)

Why: To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to build productive members of the community in which they live through the avenues of basketball.

When: Tuesdays 5-7pm

Cost: $10 annually

There will be several teams and each team will have a mentor/coach for that team. We will practice together as well as play basketball competitively against one another. This is a Christ focused program; therefore, there will be no fighting, disrespecting, foul language, inappropriate behavior of any kind, or teasing. There will be a contract of agreement that will hold each person accountable for their actions in school, in the workplace, and at home.
