Volunteer Bell Ringers For Red Kettle Campaign 2013

The familiar Red Kettles will hit streets and shopping areas throughout Huntley and Chicagoland on Friday, November 16, and The Salvation Army is seeking volunteer bell ringers to raise much-needed funds to help their neighbors in need.

Bell ringers are asked to choose one of their favorite spots, in front of Elgin’s most popular retailers. Student and community groups are also encouraged to donate volunteer time. Red kettles will be on the streets through December 24.

Bell ringers are the heart and soul of the Christmas season and are an integral part of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. The Salvation Army receives nearly 70 percent of its yearly donations during the campaign. The funds are used not only to support Christmas programs and services, but to help The Salvation Army serve neighbors in need throughout the entire year. All funds raised will stay in the Elgin community.

Last year, Red Kettle funds helped The Salvation Army’s Metropolitan Division:

 provide nearly 2 million meals to the hungry,
 shelter more than 3,000 homeless,
 assist more than 200,000 first responders and disaster victims,
 and keep 27,000 children safe inday care.

To sign up to be a volunteer bell ringer in the Huntley area, call Josh Wheeler, Red Kettle Coordinator at 847.741.2304 or email him at Josh_Wheeler@usc.salvationarmy.org or Hannah Reynolds at Hannah_Reynolds@usc.salvationarmy.org.
