Youth Character Building

The Salvation Army’s fun, safe and educational programs include Sunbeams for girls, Girl Guards for young women and Adventure Corps and Scouts for boys and young men. Rooted in the scouting tradition, The Salvation Army’s character building programs are holistic-based, with caring, trained leaders.

SUNBEAMS
Sunbeams is a fun-filled program that helps girls ages 6 – 11 develop socially, mentally, physically and spiritually. From learning to help at home, to assisting others in the community and respecting nature, Sunbeams open girls’ eyes to how they can make a difference in the world around them.
Age: 6 – 11
Day: Wednesdays
Time: 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Fee: FREE

GIRL GUARDS
Girl Guards gives girls in middle and high school the opportunity to participate in a four-fold program addressing their physical, mental, spiritual and social needs. Skills development, personal growth and community service opportunities epand their horizons as girls learn to work together and independently in various environments. They are also encouraged to think seriously about career and lifestyle choices as they move into adulthood.

Day: Tuesdays
Time: 4 to 5:30 p.m.

ADVENTURE CORPS/EXPLORERS
This program is for boys ages 6 – 18. Participants are encouraged to explore the world around them and discover ways to serve their community. By joining a variety of activities, young men learn to overcome physical, mental and social challenges to grow into responsible adults.
